Super Micro Computer, Inc. (SMCI), a global provider of IT solutions for sectors like AI, Cloud, Storage, and 5G/Edge computing, has introduced a cutting-edge high-density platform optimized for AI inference at the network edge. As organizations increasingly integrate complex large language models (LLMs) into their workflows, there is a growing demand for hardware capable of processing vast amounts of data at the edge with minimal delay. Supermicro’s latest system blends flexibility, performance, and thermal efficiency, offering the ability to support up to 10 double-width GPUs within an air-cooled environment.
“Our innovative thermal design allows us to deliver this high-performance in a compact 3U system featuring 20 PCIe slots and 256 cores, tailored for edge data centers,” said Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro. “With the rapid growth of AI, our customers require a robust and versatile solution for on-premises AI inferencing, especially for LLM applications where processing data close to the source is essential. The new 3U Edge AI system enables them to achieve this with minimal latency.”

The new system, model SYS-322GB-NR, is equipped with dual Intel® Xeon® 6900 processors featuring P-cores, 8800 MT/s MRDIMM, and up to 20 PCIe 5.0 expansion slots. This platform can accommodate both single and double-width GPUs or utilize the expansion slots for high-performance input/output (I/O) or additional hardware. It supports up to 6TB of RDIMM memory and provides storage options including up to 14 E1.S or 6 U.2 NVMe drives.
A key use case for this system is in the manufacturing sector, where it can be deployed directly at automated production sites. By processing data from cameras and sensors on-site, there is no need to transfer data to remote servers, which reduces network bandwidth requirements and enhances real-time responsiveness. The SYS-322GB-NR is also well-suited for large-scale control centers, where AI accelerators can be swapped for multi-display cards to support up to 64 independent displays.
Supermicro’s Presence at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Las Vegas
Attendees at MWC Las Vegas, held from October 8-10, will have the opportunity to see the SYS-322GB-NR showcased at Supermicro’s booth (#518). In addition to this system, Supermicro will also exhibit other AI and telco edge systems featuring processors from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. Systems on display include:
- SYS-222HE-FTN: A high-performance edge solution featuring dual Intel Xeon 6 processors in a 2U, short-depth chassis with front I/O access, designed for telco environments.
- SYS-212B-FN2T: Another 2U short-depth system for AI applications at the telco and network edge, supporting Intel Xeon 6700 processors with E-cores and GPU acceleration.
- SYS-E403-14B-FRN2T: A compact, wall-mountable edge device that offers Intel Xeon 6700 processors with E-core and GPU support for deployment in remote areas.
- AS-1115S-FDWTRT: A 1U NEBS-compliant system powered by AMD EPYC 8004 processors, suitable for telco environments, capable of supporting a single-width GPU for demanding tasks.
In collaboration with NVIDIA, Supermicro will also demonstrate AI solutions for industries such as retail, telecom, and financial services. Attendees can expect to see live demonstrations of enterprise AI applications, NVIDIA NIM, NVIDIA NeMo, and NVIDIA Metropolis. In the telecom sector, a live AI RAN solution will be showcased, highlighting the capabilities of Supermicro and NVIDIA technologies in real-world AI and network management scenarios.
Additionally, Supermicro and Intel will unveil a new joint solution at MWC Las Vegas. This system combines a rugged outdoor IP65-rated edge device with AI network accelerators and Intel® Data Center GPU Flex 170, designed to support fast, cost-effective deployment of private 5G networks and edge AI applications. This scalable system is ideal for dense environments such as industrial campuses, smart cities, and large venues.
